Social and mobile media challenge IT control issues

Training and consulting to organisations re Web2.0/social media, we’re increasingly finding that IT departments are seen as ‘speed humps‘ to implementation of many Web2.0 tech tools…now a new report details fresh challenges for IT people…mobile devices (digital pens, laptops,mobile terminals, netbooks, smartphones) used by Gen Ys, contractors, remote office staff and outsourced contractors are likely to weaken an org’s SOE (not SEO) Standard Operating Environment. The IBRS report suggests that IT departments “must learn to manage and integrate mobile devices into their IT environments“; start with a short-term tactical solutions, moving towards a more embrasive PED diversity and open networks, Intelligent Business Research Services suggest. We’re all trying to grasp this particular nettle, though!
