Social media a workplace distraction, says survey

Deakin Uni educator and co-Social Media advocate Ross Monaghan, points me to a news.com article discussing how social media sites like Facebook are increasing in popularity, yet threatening workplace productivity.

New research shows that four in 10 Australians now visit these sites and that Facebook’s 80million fans spend an average of 28 minutes per visit updating their profiles and talking to friends. Yet the Sensis e-Business report claims online Social Networking is an ‘issue’ for employers who feel the social media dynamic presents a distraction to more productive work efforts (Surely not all employers Ross?)
